Other items include dimension timbers from salvaged logs, untreated utility poles, live green trees, and other sources. Flooring, ceiling and wainscot products are also re-manufactured from these sources in a variety of colors and species, depending on the individual tastes of the owner or architect. Often, Douglas Fir and Larch are used for flooring, and the lighter colored woods such as spruce, pine or high-elevation fir are used for ceiling and paneling to keep the tone of the interior from becoming overly dark. Other species include: Western Red Cedar, Port Orford Cedar, Alaska Yellow Cedar, Sitka Spruce, Ponderosa Pine, Idaho White Pine, and others.

Northwest Custom Timbers is dedicated to the preservation of our natural resources. Whenever possible, reclaimed, salvage and standing dead material is accessed using the least invasive and disruptive techniques available. Likewise, through our network of private landowners and contractors, sustained yield is practiced to maintain the health, diversity and viability of the forest. Individual requests for specific sources and products is honored and trackable.

Our manufacturing facilities have the ability to cut and process timbers of reclaimed/recycled stock and salvage timber up to the dimensions of 36" by 36" by 45' long, depending on available raw material. Standing dead wood typically comes in smaller sizes, netting up to 12" by 12" by 45' long, (or larger in limited quantities and specifications). Information on stock availability, dimensions, surface preparations, and moisture content is available upon request.

These naturally-cured trees are then selectively removed from the forest, sawn into appropriate lengths and dimensions, and used for posts, beams, purlins, rafters, and other parts of the building. This product is either available with the rough-sawn surface intact, or surfaced four sides for a smooth, fresh wood look. Other custom appearances such as hand-hewn, distressed or rustic are available upon request by special order.
